  • 600 gm medium size prawns
  • 5 tbsp oil
  • 1.5 tbsp sugar
  • 1-1.5 tsp salt to taste
  • 8 dried chillies
  • 4 fresh red chillies
  • 100 gm shallots
  • 1 tbsp toasted shrimp paste
  • 3 candlenuts
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tbsp tamarind pulp mixed with 200 ml water
